Northwest Texas Healthcare System is recruiting Hospitalists for employed positions in Amarillo, TX.

- Position is part of a hospital-affiliated multi-specialty group

- Total staff of six Hospitalists on a seven on/seven off schedule, with 12-hour shifts

- Hospitalists average 18 to 20 patient encounters per shift

- Intensivist and specialist backup available

- Ideal candidates must be BC/BE in Internal Medicine and be comfortable running central lines

- Compensation includes a competitive base salary with bonus, benefits and other incentives

Northwest Texas Healthcare System is a 475-bed acute care hospital that serves approximately 650,000 residents of the Texas Panhandle and surrounding region. The system provides acute care services, including specialty cardiac and pediatric care, women’s services, emergency, surgical and behavioral health care. Northwest also has a nationally recognized, licensed surgical center that is co-owned with physician investors. Northwest recently expanded to serve residents in Guymon, OK, as a result of a management relationship with Memorial Hospital of Texas County, a 47-bed county-owned facility. Northwest is staffed by nearly 500 physicians representing over 50 specialties, who provide high quality care and combine traditional values with leading edge technology.

Amarillo has four distinct seasons and a population of nearly 200,000 people. All faiths are represented in the community. The public schools are outstanding and there are college preparatory and parochial private schools available. Texas Tech University Health Science Center has a thriving campus in Amarillo and trains 70 medical students and over 75 residents annually, largely at the Northwest campus. Amarillo Community College is located in the city and West Texas A & M is 15 minutes from Amarillo. The city boasts many cultural activities, including the Amarillo Symphony and Opera, the Lone Star Ballet and a variety of theater groups. Recreational activities are plentiful. Amarillo offers a spectacular botanical garden, numerous art galleries and museums, and outdoor activities, including golf, hiking and biking. The city is located minutes from Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the second largest canyon in the country, and is on Historic Route 66. Amarillo is just four hours from Oklahoma City and Albuquerque and an hour flight to Dallas or Denver.
